Weens fan favourite fourth album fuses every possible genre it can lay its greasy little mitts on into a masterpiece of 90's slacker rock. This 30th-anniversary edition includes a bonus vinyl with 15 unreleased demos.
The fourth album from New Hope's experimental rock duo Ween Chocolate and Cheese was the band's first album recorded in a professional studio. Ween's first three albums were recorded on a 4-track recorder at the band's home recording studio (nicknamed The Pod) with Dean and Gene Ween playing all the instruments.
The band signed with major label Elektra Records to release their third album Pure Guava but the recording of Chocolate and Cheese was the first time the band had access to the resources of a major studio for the recording of an album. These resources included a live drummer (Claude Coleman) and hi-fi digital recording equipment.
In Chocolate and Cheese, Ween delves into nearly every variation of pop, rock, soul, and funk. This 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition features a complete remastering from the great Bernie Grundman. It also includes a special bonus disc, curated by Dean and Gene Ween, showcasing fifteen unreleased demos.
2024 30th anniversary reissue includes a 15-page booklet, released via Rhino Records.
