(Deep sky coloured vinyl) Wee combines the the soul sounds of Stevie Wonder with the funk of Sly and The Family Stone into an extremely enticing musical concoction.
(Deep sky coloured vinyl) Wee's 1977 album You Can Fly On My Aeroplane combines the soul sounds of Stevie Wonder with the funk of Sly and The Family Stone. Wee's lead songwriter Norman Whiteside writes about the everyday lives of people who struggling to get out of the gutter, stories of pimps, prostitutes and hustlers can be found strewn throughout every song.
Whiteside received a thirty-year prison sentence in the mid 80's and while he was rotting away in the prison industrial complex his music found new life by being sampled by artists as influential as Frank Ocean.
The Numero Group dedicates itself to giving new life to albums from black artists that initially failed to find commercial traction and in 2024 their gaze falls upon You Can Fly My Aeroplane.
