Suki Waterhouse's Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin is the best album by a former model intrigued by a colourful cannibalistic spider released in 2024.
Sometime fashion model and actress turned budding pop star Suki Waterhouse named her 2024 sophomore album after a testy breed of wildly coloured spider whose female members will actually eat prospective mates if they don't perform a satisfactory courtship dance.
How that all factors into the lyrical and thematic content of Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin is for you to determine, but the London-bred Waterhouse's second full-length outing for influential American indie label Sub Pop Records -- a mix of dreamy pop and sad-girl folkiness recorded during months leading up to the birth of her first daughter with fiance Robert Pattinson -- is without a doubt the finest album named after a cannibalistic arachnid released by a former model in 2024.
We're kidding around: it's actually very good and Suki was super-nice when she came to visit our Kop's Records location when she was playing Toronto in December of 2024. We approve.
