Warhorse's iconic self-titled album is back - re-issued in a gatefold vinyl edition - with its prominent Hammond organ and blend of neoclassical elements and heavy blues.
Formed in early 1970 by Deep Purple bassist Nick Simper, Warhorse initially served as a backing band for singer Marsha Hunt. The lineup also included Rick Wakeman, who left in April 1970 to join Strawbs. Their self-titled debut album, released on Vertigo in November 1970, is a notable example of progressive hard rock from that period. With its prominent Hammond organ, the band blended neoclassical elements with heavy blues for a sound similar to Black Sabbath, Atomic Rooster, and Quatermass. The album is back - re-issued in a gatefold vinyl edition.
