Marcos Valle, a key figure in Brazilian pop, shaped the genre from bossa nova to '80s MPB. His hit "Samba de Verão" is one of Brazil's most covered songs.
Marcos Valle, the Renaissance man of Brazilian pop, is a singer, songwriter, and producer who has shaped Brazil's music scene from the bossa nova era to the fusion-heavy MPB of the 1980s and beyond. While his fame in the U.S. hasn’t reached the levels of contemporaries like Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, or Tom Zé, Valle remains one of the most significant and beloved figures in Brazilian pop. His hit single "Samba de Verão," included here as a bonus on the complete LP "Samba Demais," is one of the most covered songs in Brazilian music history.
