The late Gord Downie and the Tragically Hip went absolutely stratospheric -- at least in their native Canada -- after Fully Completely was released in 1992.
Fully Completely was to be the Tragically Hip's big-budget international breakthrough and, while that might not have happened, it certainly proved the record that turned the Kingston, Ontario, quintet into probably the most beloved Canadian band in history.
This thing was an absolutely massive record. It solidified the Hip as a bona fide arena act, properly announced the arrival of late frontman Gord Downie as a poetic songwriting force to be reckoned with, spawned six hit singles -- "Locked In The Trunk Of A Car," "Fifty Mission Cap" and "At The Hundredth Meridian" among them that still get played on radio every single day and sold a million copies in Canada alone. What more is there to say, really? There's not a person in Canada unaware of Fully Completely. Too bad the rest of the planet slept on this one.
