"Peak" Taylor Swift? There's no such thing. The Tortured Poets Department is yet another record-smashing, multi-platinum winner from the biggest pop star in the known universe.
Just when we all thought Taylor Swift couldn't possibly get any bigger, she got even bigger in April of 2024 with the release of her 11th studio album.
Recorded with longtime producer Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner of the National during the early stages of the global phenomenon that was her Eras tour, The Tortured Poets Department topped the charts across every inhabited continent on the planet and sold nearly 2 million physical copies in a week at a time when, frankly, most records don't tend to sell a lot of physical copies anymore. The album went on to top the Billboard 200 for a record 12 consecutive weeks and made Swift the only artist ever to occupy the top 14 positions on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with the single "Fortnight" at number one. And this despite Tortured Poets Department being one of the slower and more relentlessly sombre entries in the Swift sad-girl canon to date.
The "Ghosted White" vinyl edition contains the bonus track "The Manuscript."
