This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition all-analog remaster brings you Horace Silver’s "Song for My Father", a hard bop classic on 180g vinyl.
A decade into his recording journey, pianist Horace Silver released the album that would stand out as the highlight of a catalog filled with hard bop classics. "Song for My Father" showcased the evolution of his quintet, featuring two tracks from an October 1963 session with Blue Mitchell, Junior Cook, Gene Taylor, and Roy Brooks. The following year, Silver returned to Van Gelder Studio with a new lineup that included Carmell Jones, Joe Henderson, Teddy Smith, and Roger Humphries, resulting in four additional tracks, among them his iconic piece, "Song for My Father". This track is a tribute to his father, reflecting his Cape Verdean roots and influences from a recent trip to Brazil.
This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
