The Travis Scott we know and love today isn't quite all there yet on his 2015 debut, Rodeo, but the seeds of the future are being sown for sure.

Huge, in-your-face beats, screwed-up/psych'd-out vocals, an overall air of slightly menacing trap dementia: it was all here on delivery, albeit not in as refined and ambitious a form as it would be two albums later on the Houston rapper's to-date masterwork, 2018's smashing Astroworld. There was never any doubt that the guy was bound for greatness, and there are enough proper rippers here -- the singles "3500" and "Antidote" among them -- that even casual listeners will stumble across a few jams that they can't possibly deny. The guest list on this one is a whopper, too, which would seem to suggest that a lot of A-listers were quite happy to rub shoulders with this kid on his way up. Future, 2 Chainz, the Weeknd, Schoolboy Q, Young Thug and the less obvious likes of Justin Bieber and Toro Y Moi all make appearances. Someone at the label was willing to throw some cash around in service of Scott's vision.
