This 1994 collection gathers together all the hits from Sade's first four albums and throws in a few typically classy extras for good measure.
Say this for Sade Adu and her longtime band: they've never exactly overburdened the marketplace.
Sade's catalogue numbers just six full-length LPs in 40 years, each one of them a soulful study in poise and class. Released in 1994, The Best Of Sade compiles the singles from the first four albums -- from 1984's classic Diamond Life to 1992's Love Deluxe -- while throwing such worthy deep cuts as "Jezebel," "Like A Tattoo" and "Pearls" and Sade's Philadelphia soundtrack contribution "Please Send Me Someone To Love" into the mix, too, just to round things out. It's a terrific overview of Sade's singular sound and stands to this day as proof that no one out there has ever quite managed to match the cool-as-a-cucumber thing that Adu and Co. have been doing so effortlessly for four decades.
