Promise is the second album by British soul band Sade. The album contains the singles "Is It a Crime?", "Never as Good as the First Time" and the internationally charting smash hit "The Sweetest Taboo".
Promise is the second album by British soul band Sade. Upon its release, the album certified Sade as a credible international force debuting at number one in both the U.S.A. and the U.K.
Promise built upon the foundations of the group's debut release Diamond Life with an expanded focus on live instrumentation. The albums success led to the group's first international tour and propelled them to their first Grammy win in 1986 for Best New Artist. The album contains the singles "Is It a Crime?", "Never as Good as the First Time" and the internationally charting smash hit "The Sweetest Taboo".
This 2024 remaster released via Legacy Recordings/Sony features recreations of all the elements of the original packaging as well as a half-speed remaster, re-recorded from the original studio mixes at Abbey Road Studios.
