"Make It Happen" is a classic 1967 album by Smokey Robinson & the Miracles. It includes heartfelt ballads like the hit singles "The Love I Saw in You Was Just a Mirage" and "More Love," as well as the upbeat track "The Tears of a Clown," which was co-written by Stevie Wonder and his producer Hank Cosby.

Three years post-release, "The Tears of a Clown" was released as a single and soared to #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. Consequently, the album was reissued in 1970 under the title "The Tears of a Clown".

Stevie Wonder contributed to three songs on the album: "The Tears of a Clown," "After You Put Back the Pieces (I'll Still Have a Broken Heart)," and "My Love Is Your Love (Forever)." Holland-Dozier-Holland added the lively dance track "It's a Good Feeling." Smokey Robinson's bandmates, Warren "Pete" Moore and Marv Tarplin, co-wrote "You Must Be Love" and "The Love I Saw in You Was Just a Mirage," respectively. The Miracles (minus Claudette) also co-wrote the energetic "Dancing's Alright." Additionally, the album features a cover of Little Anthony & The Imperials' 1964 hit "I'm on the Outside (Looking In)." Note that the monaural version of the album contains an alternate lead vocal for "The Tears of a Clown."

Allmusic critics gave the album a 4.5 out of 5 stars rating, calling it "The most underrated Miracles LP of the '60s" and noting that, beyond its three hit singles, the album also boasts several other standout tracks that deserved more recognition.
