American pop singer Chappell Roan's triumphant debut album chronicles her journey of self-discovery and first queer love, blending emotional vulnerability with high-energy pop anthems.
The Rise and Fall Of a Midwest Princess Is American pop singer Chappell Roan's triumphant debut record. The album comes after a rough past few years for the singer.
In 2020 Roan was introduced to record producer Dan Nigro. The pair quickly began working on new music and within a few months, they finished the song "Pink Pony" and released it as a promotional single for the album. Roan's former label were not impressed with the single, so much so that they promptly dropped Roan from the label.
After the split from her record label Roan moved from L.A., back to her home state of Missouri. After a short musical hiatus, Roan signed with Nigro's Island Records imprint Amusement and the two started to produce an album that allowed Roan to express the journey of her first queer love and come to terms with her own queerness.
The Rise of a Midwest Princess was extremely well received by critics upon its release and it propelled Roan to a new level of stardom. The album features the singles "Casual", "Pink Pony Club" and "Red Wine Supernova".
Released via Amusement Records on 180g black double vinyl.
