Unapologetic, the seventh studio album by Barbadian singer Rihanna, released on November 19, 2012, through Def Jam Recordings and SRP Records. Recorded between June and November 2012 during the promotion of her sixth album, Talk That Talk (2011), the album features contributions from both established collaborators like The-Dream, David Guetta, Chase & Status and Stargate, as well as new producers such as Parker Ighile, Mike Will Made It and Labrinth. The album primarily blends pop, synth-pop and R&B, while incorporating elements of hip-hop, EDM, dubstep, rock, and reggae, merging the sonic styles of her previous works, including Talk That Talk, Loud (2010) and Rated R (2009).

Upon its release, Unapologetic debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, selling 238,000 copies in its first week, making it Rihanna's first number-one album on the chart and her best-selling debut week to date. It also achieved number-one status in the UK, Norway, and Switzerland, becoming her third, fourth, and fifth consecutive number-one album in those countries. According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), Unapologetic was the ninth global best-selling album of 2012, with sales reaching 2.3 million copies and by December 2014, it had sold over four million copies worldwide.

The album produced six singles, including the international hits "Diamonds" and "Stay". "Diamonds" peaked at number one on both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100, making Rihanna the fourth artist in history with twelve number-one songs, tying her with Madonna and the Supremes. To promote Unapologetic, Rihanna launched the 777 Tour, a seven-date promotional journey where she performed in seven cities across North America and Europe in just seven days, followed by her fourth worldwide concert tour, the Diamonds World Tour.
