Orange vinyl re-issue of the 1976 self-titled classic. Full of whimsy, rage and any other emotion you could think of. The album contains the heartwarming romps “Abominable Snowman in the Market" and “Hey There Little Insect".
Omnivore Recordings presents an orange vinyl re-issue of the 1976 self-titled classic Jonothan Richman and the Modern Lovers. The Modern Lovers were one of the most influential pre-punk bands ever to write speedy power chord-ridden rock songs. Members of the group went on to contribute to The Talking Heads and The Cars.
Frontman Jonothan Richman never settled into one style, he felt a little bit disillusioned with the lack of emotional depth and honesty on the debut The Modern Lovers record (which was recorded five years earlier but released the same year as Jonothan Richman and the Modern Lovers).
Jonothan Richman and the Modern Lovers had a revised lineup and a completely different more varied sound compared to the The Modern Lovers. The record is silly, folky and extremely heartwarming with fantastic romps like “Abominable Snowman in the Market" and “Hey There Little Insect”.
