Relive the album that lit the hard-rock world on fire, this 2024 expanded edition includes additional bonus tracks from the original 1998 recording sessions.
Queens of the Stone Age's self-titled debut record is one of a kind, fusing stoner rock, kraut-rock, punk, grunge and a little bit of trance to create a kind of desert rock that had never been seen before its release. Revisit the album that started it all with this expanded edition which includes additional tracks from early Queens of the Stone Age recording sessions.
After the dissolution of his band Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme found himself wanting to create music that fused parts of Kyuss's sound with beats that were trancelike and danceable. Homme recorded the first 10 tracks of the album in April of 1998 at Monkey Studios in Palm Desert, California. Homme played most of the instruments on the recordings with some assistance from former Kyuss band member Alfredo Hernández. The rest of the songs were recorded in subsequent sessions at Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California.
