The Bedlam in Goliath, the fourth studio album from American progressive rock band The Mars Volta, released on January 29, 2008, through Gold Standard Laboratories and Universal Motown Records. Produced by guitarist and primary songwriter Omar Rodríguez-López, the album’s creation was marked by eerie events linked to a Ouija board Rodríguez-López gave to vocalist Cedric Bixler-Zavala. These strange occurrences shaped the album’s dark and intense sound. It’s the first to feature drummer Thomas Pridgen and the last to include guitarist Paul Hinojos, multi-instrumentalist Adrián Terrazas-González, and keyboardist Isaiah "Ikey" Owens.

Debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, The Bedlam in Goliath became the band’s highest-charting release, selling over 54,000 copies in its first week. The lead single, "Wax Simulacra", released on November 19, 2007, accompanied by a cover of Siouxsie and the Banshees’ "Pulled to Bits". The album’s vinyl edition even includes a custom-designed Ouija board, referencing the one that influenced the album. By 2009, the album sold 153,000 copies in the U.S. and "Wax Simulacra" went on to win Best Hard Rock Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards.
