2024 reissue of Los Reyes 73's iconic 1975 debut LP revives the band's masterful fusion of Afro-Cuban funk, psychedelic rock, and deep funk. Features a Cuban Classic Series OBI Strip.
As part of the Mr Bongo Cuban Classics Series, Los Reyes 73’s iconic 1975 debut LP is reissued. Released under various titles, this album delivers an extraordinary Afro-Cuban funk sound that masterfully fuses psychedelic rock with deep funk, embodying the essence of ‘70s Cuban music. Though the band produced only two albums and a few 7-inch singles, they left a lasting mark on Cuba's music scene and gained renewed interest through various compilations in the 2000s.
Produced by Raúl Gómez, the album features an impressive lineup of Cuban musicians and is directed by Santiago Reyes and Ovidio Guerra. The songwriting expertise of Miguel Ángel Rasalps from Los Van Van further enhances the album. Standout tracks like “Grandes Amigos,” “Adeoey,” and “Un Lamento Hecho Cancion” exemplify the vibrant fusion within, making it perfect for any contemporary dancefloor.
This reissue features artwork from the Mexican edition released by Pentagrama Records. This long-awaited official reissue is available on vinyl with a Cuban Classic Series OBI Strip, set to captivate both longtime fans and new listeners.
