LL Cool J's most critically and commercially successful album "Mama Said Knock You Out" is LL's signature record that established his status as a legend of the game.
Mama Said Knock You Out is one of the greatest hip-hop albums of the 1990s. The album was a return to form for LL after the disappointing reception of his third album Walking With a Panther. The album was released by Def Jam and mostly produced by Marly Marl at his home studio in Chestnut Ridge with some additional recordings done at the Chuck King House of Metal in New York. The album was supported by five singles with four of them becoming smash hits.
