Linkin Park's angsty second album, Meteora, is one of the 21st century's best-selling albums.
Linkin Park didn't bother reinventing the wheel on its second album, 2003's Meteora, contenting itself instead with making what one critic described at the time as "nothing more and nothing less than a Hybrid Theory Part 2."
Hey, it worked. Twenty-two years later, Meteora is closing in on nearly 20 million in worldwide sales, making it legitimately one of the biggest albums of the 21st century. And if it was, as Rolling Stone once observed, the nu-metal album that "squeezed the last remaining life out of this nearly extinct formula," it's had remarkably long legs. The album and its five singles -- "Somewhere I Belong," "Numb," "Faint," "From The Inside" and "Breaking The Habit" -- still stubbornly crack the charts from time to time. Former frontman Chester Bennington might have left this world in 2017 but his contributions to the popular-music canon appear to be immortal.
