Neo-soul belter Leon Bridges and Texas psych voyagers Khruangbin blend so well on Texas Sun that a sequel was all but inevitable.
Texas natives Leon Bridges and Khruangbin -- he's from Fort Worth, they're from Houston (although they sound more like they're from Austin) -- had such a good time on tour together in 2019 that they decided the experience was worth commemorating for posterity in the studio.
The result is the quietly perfect four-track EP released in early 2020 as Texas Sun, an easygoing slice of slightly psychedelic soul tailor-made for long summertime drives with the windows down and a warm breeze wafting through your hair. Khruangbin's dusty twang merges with Bridges's classicist R&B croon so well here that you can't help but wish they'd put a bit more material to tape, which is no doubt why they regrouped in the studio in 2022 for the similarly loveable Texas Moon EP.
