Begun during the forced isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022's Stick Season saw Vermont singer/songwriter Noah Kahan taking a more rustic and folk-oriented approach to his songwriting -- and it paid off. 

Led by the everywhere-all-at-once singles "Stick Season" and "Northern Attitude," Kahan's third album swiftly propelled him to sold-out arena dates, a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and the No. 1 spot on the Canadian Billboard album chart. The record's slow-burning longevity was sufficient that his label Mercury/Republic offered up an expanded version entitled Stick Season (We'll All Be Here Forever) featuring seven additional tracks in 2023, and both remain popular enough to suggest that they will indeed be here forever. Chances are the sensitive Kahan -- who cites sad-girl supreme Phoebe Bridgers as a major influence on Stick Season -- is your girlfriend or your mom's favourite singer, but you'll catch yourself humming along when you're alone in the car and there's no shame in it.
