(2LP, red/yellow/green vinyl) there is no question that the sophomore album from American hip-hop group Jungle Brothers is one of the most under-appreciated hidden gems of the golden age of hip-hop.
An absolute classic from the golden age of hip-hop returns to vinyl. The second album by American hip-hop group Jungle Brothers Done by the Forces of Nature fuses socially conscious Afrocentric lyrics with house-influenced production and samples from funk, jazz and traditional R&B. The album's title is a reference to Hindu scripture.
In the late eighties, the Jungle Brothers found themselves at the forefront of a new movement, The Native Tounges collective. The collective fostered Afrocentric music that sampled from an eclectic range of genres. The Jungle Brothers started the collective after they connected with De La Soul after a show and they were soon joined by A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah and Monie Love. De La Soul, Queen Latifah and Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest all feature on Done by the Forces of Nature.
2024 reissue on a double tri-color vinyl (red/yellow/green) features the original picture sleeve artwork and insert, released via Get On Down.
