In his final release for the Impulse! label, Hubbard's ambitious 1963 album "The Body & The Soul" features both an all-star septet and an orchestra with strings. The album includes several Hubbard originals, along with notable musicians such as Curtis Fuller (trombone), Wayne Shorter (tenor saxophone), Eric Dolphy (alto saxophone), Cedar Walton (piano), Reggie Workman (bass), and Louis Hayes (drums). "The Body & The Soul" stands out as one of the most unique productions in Freddie's extensive discography, also serving as a platform for showcasing Wayne Shorter's arranging talents.
This Verve By Request Series pressing features transfers from the analog tapes remastered on 180g vinyl.
