Hozier's Billboard 200 #1 sophomore album returns to vinyl with five additional tracks. Features the track "Nina Cried Power" listed as one of Barrack Obama's favourite songs of 2018.
The sophomore album by Irish singer/songwriter Hozier Wasteland, Baby! contains some of the artist's most complex and raw songwriting. The album's lyrical content concerns the degradation of our planet and Hozier's anxieties about the future of the human race. Following the release of Hozier's self-titled debut album he took a one-year hiatus from music and found himself completely enraptured by the daily news cycle. He fell into a spiral of despair worrying about the rise of neo-nationalism and anti-immigration sentiments in the U.K and he used this despair to fuel his song writing.
Wasteland, Baby! fuses Hozier's despair and fatigue with a sense of optimism. The instrumentals can be soulful, hard, bright, uplifting and contain powerful driving rhythms. The album features contributions from American musician Booker. T Jones and singer/civil rights activist Mavis Staples.
This 2024 special edition includes five bonus tracks on 180g double vinyl, released via Columbia/Legacy.
