Terumasa Hino is one of Japan's most underrated jazz musicians. His 1970 post-bop classic contains songs that offer both melancholy and mania to any listener who would like to delve into the wonderful world of Japanese jazz.
Into the Heaven is one of the best Japanese post-bop albums the 70's has to offer. The album contains tracks that draw from American fusion, hard-bop and cool jazz. The album's title track is a 20-minute-long fusion epic similar in style to the late 60's compositions of Miles Davis.
Japanese jazz trumpeter and bandleader Terumasa Hino collaborated with some of the greatest American musicians of all time Roy Haynes, Herbie Hancock and Gary Burton but Into the Heaven sees Tino reunited with his less notorious Hi- Nology bandmates Motohiko Hino on drums, Hiromasa Suzuki on piano, Kunimitsu Inaba on bass and Takeru Muraoka on tenor sax.
2024 reissue released via Le Tres Jazz Club includes gatefold packaging.
