The Special Collector's Edition package includes the Director's Cut version of the film with 6 minutes of additional footage not in the original U.S. release, a new state-of-the-art digital widescreen transfer supervised by the producers and approved by director Russell Mulcahy, and a new Dolby Digital soundtrack remixed from a new digital stereo 6-track. It features running audio commentaries by director Russell Mulcahy and producers William Panzer & Peter Davis on analog track 1, the original theatrical trailer, and over 200 behind-the-scenes photos, production, and publicity stills. Additionally, the package contains photos from scenes left on the cutting room floor, a still frame "slide show" that documents the film's evolution from scripting to release, complete with production notes, script revisions, reviews, and publicity articles, as well as a virtual 3-D photograph of the "Katama" sword.
