(Clear yellow vinyl) Gnidrolog's underrated 1972 gem mixes elements of folk and jazz with a hefty dose of prog-rock.
The second album by British prog rock savants Gnidrolog Lady of the Lake juggles hefty lyrical themes (including pacifism and pilgrimage) with odes to Tchaikovsky's classic ballet Swan Lake. The album initially sold quite poorly and the band broke up shortly after its release but in the years since 1972 the record has gained a small but dedicated fanbase.
Lady of the Lake mixes a tight traditional rock rhythm section with jazz and folk flourishes from Nigel Pegrum on flute and John Earle on soprano, tenor and baritone saxophones.
This 2024 reissue on clear yellow vinyl is released via Music On Vinyl.
