The album that spearheaded the new wave/New Romantic revolution returns to 1LP vinyl for the first time since its initial release.
The debut studio album by English new wave band Duran Duran fuses synth-pop, disco, punk and dance with the tiniest hint of atmospheric music. The album that led the New Romantic movement contains influences from artists such as Japan, Chic and David Bowie.
The album was supported by the release of three hit singles: "Planet Earth", "Careless Memories" and "Girls on Film". "Girls on Film" was propelled to the top of the charts by the success of its controversial music video. The album was not initially successful and only reached the Billboard #200 top 10 after it was reissued at the height of the band's fame in 1983.
This 2024 reissue of the 2010 Abbey Road remaster includes the original sleeve design by Malcolm Garrett, released via Parlophone
