(Clear, purple & black vinyl) American darkwave band Drab Majesty's 2017 album The Demonstration pushes the boundary between hopeless and hopeful, combining influences from shoegaze, gothic rock, noise music and dream pop.
Drab Majesty started as the solo project of drummer Deb Demure (Andrew Clinco) who recorded every instrument on the group's debut release. Demure asked keyboardist Monda D (Alex Nicolaou) to join the band in 2016 just before the band set off on a European/North American tour.
The Demonstration is a concept album that explores the psychology of cults and mass suicide through droning dark-wave soundscapes and hypnotic arpeggios.
