2019 USA, Ltd Ed #'d SEALED
The fourth studio album from Dire Straights captures the band at their creative peak, fusing influences from blues rock and jazz with ambitious extended song structures.
The fourth album from British rock band Dire Straits Love Over Gold, dares to be different. The album features a distinct dichotomy in its tracklist, half of the songs are fiery and passionate blues rock, while the other half are sombre, introspective, and atmospheric.
Love Over Gold was recorded at the Power Station in New York from March 8 to June 11, 1982. Mark Knopfler produced the album, with Neil Dorfsman as the engineer, marking the beginning of a long-standing collaboration between the two. The inclusion of rhythm guitarist Hal Lindes fosters a richer atmospheric interplay between Lindes and Knopfler.
The album topped the charts in Australia, Austria, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom, and reached number 19 in the United States. Love Over Gold was subsequently certified gold in the United States, platinum in France and Germany, and double platinum in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Printed on two 180g vinyl as a part of Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab's Original Master Recording series.
