French electronic duo Daft Punk's second album, Discovery, has aged into a genuine disco-house classic.
Daft Punk's 1997 debut, Homework, was a slammin' slab of raw D.I.Y. tech-house that instantly established the duo of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo as a dance-music force to be reckoned with.
For the follow-up, 2001's gleamingly groovy Discovery, the pair applied a coat of polish and a whole lotta disco love to the proceedings, firmly establishing the glitterball-friendly sound that's been Daft Punk's trademark ever since and contributing several indelible singles to the pop canon -- "One More Time," "Digital Love" and "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" -- that have stood the test of time just as well as "Da Funk" and "Around The World." Although some observers were perplexed by the change in direction at the time, Discovery has since gone on to be recognized as a hugely influential piece of work and a modern-day classic. It also turned the masked robo-men behind the music into a rare crossover success story straddling clubland and the pop charts. "One More Time" would be Daft Punk's biggest hit until "Get Lucky" came along and blew everyone's minds in 2013.
