Lana Del Rey's second album, Born To Die, remains the "go-to" for fans old and new alike thanks to a healthy helping of indelible pop singles. The "deluxe" edition adds three bonus tracks and represses the whole thing across two discs of 180g vinyl.
After issuing a muddled and disappointingly received debut in 2010, Lana Del Rey figured out her "thing" two years later on Born To Die and very quickly rode that thing to international fame and acclaim.
Seven successful albums have followed, but Born To Die -- wherein we were introduced to Del Rey's dead-eyed socialite persona and drowsy, synth-drenched cinematic sound -- tends to be the one everyone goes back to. Which is unsurprising, given the sheer number of monster singles collected on this baby: "Video Games," "Blue Jeans," "Summertime Sadness," "National Anthem," "Dark Paradise" and, of course, "Born To Die." Not a bad first foot forward, really. Indeed, in 2023 Born To Die became the second album ever by a female artist to spend more than 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, proving its appeal hasn't diminished all that much over time.
The "deluxe" reissue of Born To Die adds three bonus tracks -- "Without You," "Lolita" and "Lucky Ones" --to the original album and spreads the whole thing across two luxurious LPs' worth of 180g vinyl.
