"A Rush of Blood to the Head" is the second studio album by the British rock band Coldplay. It was released on August 26, 2002, by Parlophone in the UK, and a day later by Capitol Records in the US. The album, produced by the band and Ken Nelson, features more electric guitar and piano than their debut album, "Parachutes" (2000).

The recording of "A Rush of Blood to the Head" began after the band gained global popularity with "Parachutes" and the single "Yellow." The album topped the UK Albums Chart in its first week and became the eighth best-selling album of the 21st century in the UK. The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) has certified it 10× Platinum for over 3 million units sold in the UK, and it has sold more than 17 million copies worldwide. The album produced hit singles such as "In My Place," "The Scientist," and "Clocks," while "God Put a Smile upon Your Face" was released but was less successful.

"A Rush of Blood to the Head" has been critically acclaimed, earning the band three Grammy Awards: Best Alternative Album in 2003 (their second consecutive win in that category), Best Rock Performance for "In My Place" in 2003, and Record of the Year for "Clocks" in 2004. In 2007, it was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 200 Definitive Albums list. In 2010, it was among ten albums nominated for the best British album of the past 30 years by the Brit Awards and was commemorated on a UK postage stamp by the Royal Mail for its classic album cover. The album has appeared on several editions of Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list and is often cited as one of the best albums of the 21st century.
