Beabadoobee's third album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, became her mainstream breakthrough thanks to fond support from such high-profile tourmates as Clairo and the 1975.
At just 24 years of age, Filipino-born U.K. singer/songwriter Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus -- better known to her fans as simply Beabadoobee -- had already amassed an impressive discography of EPs and LPs when her third album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves, landed in August of 2024. This one, however, was the record that signalled her steady rise to the top of the Sad Girl heap.
Long on stately, sombre indie-pop balladry and heart-on-sleeve sentimentality, This Is How Tomorrow Moves -- produced with A-list assistance from super-producer Rick Rubin and released after a couple of high-profile turns on the touring trail opening for pals Clairo and the 1975 -- debuted atop the U.K. album chart and sent four singles scurrying into the popular consciousness: "Take A Bite," "Coming Home," "Ever Seen" and "Beaches." It didn't quite propel Beabadoobee to the popular heights currently enjoyed by such kindred Sad Girl spirits as Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker or Clairo herself but it certainly paved the way for greater things to come.
